The Brooklyn Circus

The journey from NYC to SF has seen many inspired success stories, and the San Francisco Giants. On deck to make it: Brooklyn Circus, opening Saturday.

The Brooklyn CircusHailing from NY's biggest borough, BC's slinging their two-tiered gear line in a barely 500sq ft Fillmore space classed up with baroque framed showcases and black lacquered antique furniture, all meant to evoke an old-timey gentleman's barbershop (minus the out-of-date issues of Playgent). BC's streetwear roots're honored with rib-knit cuff 'n hemmed hoodies, plus multi-colored tees, some sporting the gold-foil-stamped circus logo, others intricately rendered designs, e.g. "Asiatic Weapon", in which menacing monochromatic figures brandish colorful instruments of death (sword is the new black). More elevated offerings (dubbed BKc) include pima-cotton polos in stripes and solids, a 4-style raw denim selection (one over-dyed black w/ gray contrast cuffs), and outerwear ranging from thick-ribbed, wishbone toggle hoodies to satin-lined wool varsity jackets -- one sporting an oversized, left breast "B", inside which a momma and baby elephant march, indicating you were All District in Safari.

To celebrate its opening, the 4th, and this weekend's Fillmore Jazz Festival, the Circus is offering free hot dogs and popcorn with any purchase -- foodstuffs whose own journey would've taken them to AT&T Park, if there'd been anyone there to eat them.
