Warrior Shoe Book

A Chinese-born design student in Helsinki has chosen to document the "Warrior" sneaker, a Chinese national gym shoe that came out in the 70's but is sold to this day. Shumeng Ye returned to China and documented the folks who wore these shoes, also capturing their lifestyle at the same time. It is ironic how something that was meant to be generic, practical, and uniform, for wear by the "people", can be considered a desirable fashion collector's item in Paris 30 years later. Colette will be selling the photographic project in form of a book, and it will come in a package with a pair of your very own "Warriors".

Number (N)ine Summer 2008 Collection "Birds" Feature

Honeyee is really blasting its audience with a high traffic of excellent features. Within the past week we've seen SS/08 for Levi's Fenom and the Uniform Experiement. Now they present another hit with Number (N)ine SS/08. It may be the most impressive piece of all, the photography and capturing movement is excellent. Though a lot of the garments are more Haute Couture, they really make amazing photographic elements. Honeyee is really stepping itself up with these simultaneous features, maybe it has something to do with its paper-format success. We see a lot Visvim x Gore-Tex x (N)ine multi-faceted collabos in there, mixed in with lets say an "optimistic goth" imagery.

Check it out now at Honeyee.

Murakami Exhibit at Brooklyn Musem Opening Night

We're following up with some action shots of what went down at the opening night of Murakami's exhibit at Brooklyn Musuem. Kanye West rocked the stage as usual, even Marc Jacobs couldn't resist taking pictures of the champion rapper. Louis Vuitton took the war against counterfeiters one step further by taking over their turf and setting up street vendors that sell authentic LV bags. Murakami's new Monogramouflage, an overlay of LV signature monogram with camouflage print, were on sale for $6,000 dollars a piece. Again, be sure to check out the exhibit if you're around the area, Murakami's Superflat style will open your eyes to what contemporary art is all about.

Takashi Murakami x Louis Vuitton "Monogramouflage" Collection

With all the interest surrounding Murakami's most recent showing at the Brooklyn Museum and last years popularity of his Louis Vuitton branded products at the Los Angeles MOCA, another range of products will be available this time around. Revoling around designs combining LV's popular monogram picture and with imagery of camo, the end product Monogramouflage will be seen over a variety of products and leather goods. The items will release January 1st at the Brooklyn Museum with a further release slated for June 15th at LV Stores worldwide. In an ironic move, a series of 10 booths will be set out in street vendor style as purveyors of the LV products.

Burton Streetwear Womens 2008 Fall Collection

Fall of 2008 will be the debut of the new line for women that is referred to internally at Burton as, Burton Streetwear. This new line was designed by in-house ladies designer, Linda Lovemade. Linda is no stranger to building from the ground up as she designed and launched the first women’s Obey line back in 2003 and then moved on to play an instrumental role in launching Luxirie by LRG.

The inspiration behind the new women’s line is drawn from Burton’s hi-tech features like hidden pockets and detachable/reversible amenities found in their outerwear, but applying them so that they are entirely functional in addition to being fashionable. The Burton Streetwear line makes use of all types of premium fabrics such as genuine leather, technical nylons, and luxurious cashmere. Those materials are then utilized to create some very fashion forward looking silhouettes that give the female consumer a solid line to turn to this fall.
