Converse Conversations: Celebrating 1HUND(RED) Artists

This year has marked a monumental stage in Converse's long and storied history. Reaching the century mark has been no easy task for any brand, however through the strengths of Converse's marquee products, the brand has created a lasting legacy as it looks towards the future. Their strong foundation has enabled them to create and lead strong humanitarian efforts such as the (PRODUCT) Red campaign which since day one has set out to help in the battle against AIDS. The centurion mark along with the (PRODUCT) Red project came together in an event celebration titled Celebrating 1HUND(RED) Artists. (PRODUCT) Red was conceptualized as a means for some of the world's leading creative minds to create original artworks highlighting the struggle against AIDS. Although it would be difficult to list all one hundred contributing artists, the list includes Rostarr (USA), Rinzen (USA), Michael Schall (USA), Hiroshi Fujiwara (Japan), Jeremyville (Australia), Michael White for Dondi White (USA), Colletivo Design (Brazil), Grandpeople (Norway), Supakitch (France) and UPSO (USA). The March 27th event was highlighted by DJ performances by Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth) and special sets by Simian Mobile Disco and DJ Spencer Sweeney. The installations were designed by a few of the New York based contributors, Rostarr, Rinzen and Michael Schall. The collection of sneakers will release over the upcoming months, with 10% of wholesale price of each product sold benefiting The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

Futura Laboratories x Descente

The collaborative efforts of Descente and Futura Laboratores has brought forth a new sense of performance credibility as the mash-up looks to combine FL aesthetics with Descente's time tested performance qualities. The highlight of the four piece collection is the Mizusawa down jacket. Built with DiAPLX fabric (by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries), the intelligent fabric possesses qualities far beyond the norm in technical fabrics. The material is able to react accordingly to ambient temperature. When the core temperature is cool, the molecules within the fabric remain close together and retain heat, however once the core temperature rises, the molecules will force themselves apart to allow for moisture to escape. All while this is happening, the material remains waterproof and windproof. This material holds similar properties to Schoeller's c_change fabric recent seen on the Canada Goose Non Insulated collection. Rounding out the releases are various Atomic Ring camo models, from vests to light spring jackets.

Ontour S/S 2007 Collection Preview

We present the Spring/Summer 2007 collection 'Sliced Ontour' by Ontour. A collection for the twisted minds and sliced up personalities! Once again they created an entire collection around one theme, which is this time "Sliced". Ontour is one of the most promising European streetwear brands. Make sure to look out for them! Beware of some serious cut and sews, split up sneakers, puzzled trumpet patterns, sliced to the bone cats and blade saws all over the place. WATCH YOUR FINGERS THIS SUMMER! As you can see this season the overall theme is 'Sliced'. They were triggered by cutting things up, to slice objects / graphics. By mixing these and in the end puzzling it all back together they created new and surprising effects and images. This collection is a bit more 'abstract' or graphical then their previous ones. With clean cut lines and geometric shapes. They also dived more into details and materials; introducing new pieces as poloshirts, knitwear, a summer jacket and an extended womens range. For some of the items they literally cut their graphics and fabrics apart and sew them back together, resulting in perfect mismatches and strong optical effects.

This collection just dropped in stores and already the Puzzled items and Sliced Sneaker shirts are going very fast! Besides the finest retailers from The Netherlands, Ontour can be bought in more and more great spots around the globe such as Shanghai, New York, Moscow, Bangkok, Berlin, London etc. Have a look at their stockist section to check your nearest Ontour store!

Now head on over after the jump to the complete Ontour Spring/Summer 2007 range!

Alife Footwear Spring 07 Collection

The new Alife Footwear Spring 2007 collection is getting into stores and Norse launches the line today in store.

The new collection especially features some very nice hi-top sneakers. There are some very fresh colorways in the line-up, especially the lime green and pale easter color ones are great. Also the all patent ones in black/white and green/purple look really nice and will for sure be favorites this season. While this all seems very flashy, be assured that they also have enough classic styles in the collection to keep it nicely balanced.

One can clearly say that the Alife Footwear line has been getting better each season. Unlike their clothing that is much appreciated but does not change much over the years, the footwear line always brings innovative designs, colorways and also every season quality improvements.

You can head on over to Norse to get your piece of this collection.
